Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

This policy explains what information MyPDF ("we", "us") handles when you use the website at mypdf.live and the editor at app.mypdf.live, and what we do with it. The short version: we don't keep your documents, we collect only what we need to run your account, and we never sell your information.

1. Your documents

Editing in your browser. When you open a PDF, it's loaded into your web browser on your own device. Adding text, images, signatures, shapes, comments and form entries, and rearranging pages, all happens there.

Server tools. Some features need our server: permanent redaction and replacing existing text (applied when you download), OCR, compression, conversion, watermarks, page numbers, splitting, flattening and password protection or removal. For these, the file is sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection and processed straight away. Temporary copies are deleted as soon as the result is sent back to you. We don't keep your documents or look at their contents, and we don't use them to train any system.

Saved in your browser. The editor stores a few preferences in your browser's local storage: saved signatures, your default text and shape style, and the name used for comments. These stay on your device and are never sent to us. You can remove them by clearing your browser's site data.

2. Account information

You don't need an account to use the editor. If you create one, we store:

  • Details you give us: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure one-way hash, never in readable form), and optionally your organisation, job title, country, phone number, main use and preferred language, and whether you want product news.
  • Sign-in and security records: when you signed in, the IP address and browser or device used, and account events such as password changes. We use these to keep your account secure and to show you your own activity.
  • Messages you send us through the contact form.

We use this information to provide and secure your account, reply to you, understand how MyPDF is used (for example, which sectors use it most), and, if you agreed, send occasional product news. When paid plans launch, we'll also use it to manage your subscription.

3. Cookies

We use a single, strictly necessary cookie called mypdf_session. It keeps you signed in on mypdf.live and app.mypdf.live and is only set after you sign in. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

4. Sharing

We don't sell or rent your information. We share it only with:

  • the hosting provider whose servers run MyPDF, only as needed to operate the service;
  • an email delivery provider, if we send you emails such as password resets;
  • authorities, where the law requires it.

5. How long we keep information

  • Documents processed by server tools: deleted immediately after processing.
  • Sign-in sessions: expire after 30 days (or when you close your browser if you don't choose "Keep me signed in").
  • Account information and activity records: kept until you delete your account.
  • Server security logs: kept for a limited period and then deleted.

6. Your choices and rights

From My account you can view and correct your profile, change your email and password, see where you're signed in, download a copy of your data, and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, sessions and activity records. For anything else, including questions about your rights under data-protection law where you live, contact us.

7. Security

All connections use HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with Argon2, a modern algorithm built for storing passwords. Sign-in attempts are rate-limited. Server tools keep no copy of your files. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and don't share your account.

8. Children

MyPDF isn't directed at children under 13, and they shouldn't create an account.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as MyPDF grows, for example when paid plans launch. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll email account holders before they take effect.
